Our Mission Statement

  • To bless mankind and the community by upholding the healing mission of the Church of Christ, Scientist.
  • To provide a home where the highest standard of Christian Science nursing care is available, in accordance with Art VIII Section 31 of The Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy.

Expanding to add two more Patient Rooms: The Meadows Project
Our mission is to be able to provide a haven for those who need Christian Science nursing care and who come to the Lime Tree House for healing and spiritual refreshment. Therefore in response to a growing need for more Guest/Nursing rooms we have worked with an Architect to find a way of providing these, that maintains the special atmosphere of 'home' that is Lime Tree house, and yet does not require any period of closure to complete the building work. We believe the drawings shown below will achieve this.

Drawings for two extensions to Lime Tree House giving three additional patient rooms and admin/staff facilities were displayed at our Annual Meeting on 8th May 2008 and on this website. These were withdrawn from our planning application in September 2008 during discussions with our local planning office.

In mid June 2009 revised drawings in sketch form have been agreed with the local planning office to go forward to a formal planning application re-submission. To meet planning criteria these new drawings show only two more patient rooms as well as the admin/staff facilities. Our Architect is currently completing the re-application for week commencing 20th July 2009. The detailed drawings for this application were on display at our Annual Meeting on 4th July, and there is a link to them below in pdf format.

We have called this expansion 'The Meadows Project' after a legacy given for this purpose, which will part fund Phase 1 of the project. This Phase will add the two additional Guest/Nursing rooms and additional facilities needed by the increase in capacity. Phase 2 will follow when sufficient funds have been raised for it. With the completion of this Project, the land area at 264 Washway is insufficient for further development. If you would like to make donations to help this project, downloadable forms are on the "Contact Us" page.

Historical note:

Lime Tree House was purchased in 2001 and was largest property our funds would cover that had provision for the four nursing rooms our research of the Christian Science nursing needs in the area led us to conclude were needed. Lime Tree House opened in September 2003 after further substantial funds were raised to convert the property into a Christian Science Nursing House.
